Practical notes on Price
Price is the limit price of the order.
- Required when OrdType (40) is 2 (Limit) or 4 (Stop limit), or another type that carries a limit price.
- Write it as a plain decimal with a dot, without exponent notation or thousands separators, and at the instrument's tick size.
Common mistakes
- Floating-point output such as 187.49999999 that is not on a valid tick.
- Sending it on an Order Cancel Request in FIX 4.4, where the field is not defined for that message.
